As a fitness coach, I believe that it’s very important that my clients understand what we do and why we do it. I believe that it’s equally as important to answer any questions that my clients have honestly and thoroughly because you can only benefit from the information that you know! So today I want to take a few moments to answer some FAQs from you all.

Fitness Coach Answers Your Fitness FAQs

Q: Do I have to work out to get in shape?

A: I usually hear this one towards the end of the first workout when a client is feeling particularly tired and using muscles that they haven’t used in a while. The answer is yes. I’m sorry, I know it’s not what you were hoping to hear, but I can tell you that it only gets easier after that first workout and once you get into a workout routine and start to feel the benefits of being healthier, you’ll actually start to enjoy working out.

When I talk to a client who is reluctant to workout, I always tell them that they will soon get to where they hate missing a workout. These clients always laugh and tell me that, no, that’s not them. And every time without fail, we get a couple of months into a healthy exercise routine, and that same client will start to tell me how good they feel with a workout and how they just don’t feel the same without regular activity in their life. Don’t worry, I never say “I told you so,” I’m just thrilled that I can help each and every one of my clients to see that working out doesn’t have to be a mind-numbing drill!

Q: If I work out can I eat what I like without worrying about gaining weight?

Again, sorry, but no. The hard work that you are putting into your exercise habits are forming a healthier and happier you, but you are only going to be able to perform those workouts if you give your body the fuel that it needs to get the job done!

Your body needs fresh, healthy foods to function at its best. If you load yourself down with artificial preservatives, refined sugars, and simple carbs…well, you are going to feel bloated and you’re going to experience a sugar crash not long after eating. What does that mean? It means that your body has already burned through the fuel that you have given it and your blood sugar levels are going from instant energy to nothing at all. In short, you are going to feel terrible.

Do your body a favor and give it the healthy fuel that it needs to function at it’s best. Does that mean that you have to become a health nut or a vegan? Not at all! It just means educating yourself a little more about how different foods affect your body and at the very least, compromising some of those less than healthy treats!
