Florida Personal Trainer Shares Advice For Success
I share quite a lot of tips and tricks to help you to get success out of your fitness journey because I truly feel that with the right tools and support, anyone can live a healthier life. So today, I’ve got a few more bits of advice to help you on your way!
Change Your Habits For a Lifetime
Many trainers recommend throwing out all “non-pure” foods in the house. Not all of us can afford to throw out food that’s perfectly good, but part of making a lifestyle change is learning how to change our eating habits when faced with temptation. I don’t ask my clients to throw out food from their cupboards, instead, I recommend dividing them into small Ziploc baggies into calorie-friendly portions, that way you’re not depriving yourself, but you are learning how to judge serving sizes and calorie counts. By doing this you don’t just learn to understand more about nutritional counts, but you don’t set yourself up for failure when faced with temptation in the future.
Make Healthier Choices More Convenient
One of the reasons that I hear most often from clients who don’t make healthier food choices is that it “takes so long” to prepare and cook foods that are healthier. One of the tricks that I teach my clients is to make healthier choices more convenient. Set aside a day each week and prepare healthier meals and snacks. Seal those foods nice and tight in Tupperware and snack bags and put them in the fridge and freezer. This way, you have ready to eat meals that are more accessible when you’re hungry and when you finish one, just pull another out of the freezer to defrost. Plus, keeping snacks available in individual portion sizes makes it easy to grab something and go!
Listen to Your Body
As you begin to make healthier choices with your diet and exercise routine you will start to know what your body needs in order to live as a healthier you. For example, you may find that you’ve always craved sweet things for breakfast, but when you replace those unhealthy choices with fruit, you find that you’re starving again within the hour. If, however, you try an oatmeal breakfast with fresh fruit on top, you may find that you can go much longer without needing to snack because the oatmeal gives you a more stable energy source. Deciding to switch to that oatmeal breakfast is a conscious choice made while listening to your body. You have learned what your body needs to thrive more optimally.
